Announcement Regarding the Transition House Program
As we discussed in our 2017 Summer Appeal, Bruce House has been struggling with the increasing gap between funding and the cost of providing our programs and services. Your warmth and generosity overwhelmed us as we received over $11,500 in donations and so many kind words of support for our work and the importance of Bruce House to this community.
We at Bruce House are united in putting the future of the organization and the well-being of our clients first. Unfortunately, that means making some hard choices in the short-term.
As of Sept. 2017 we are closing the Transition House in Westboro. You can read the details in this announcement. This facility has housed an important and iconic program which has benefited many people in our community, and was a true home to clients, staff, and volunteers.
The work of Bruce House continues. Our Supportive Independent Living Program has a proven track record in providing long-term stable housing and support for people impacted by HIV, and our new Rehabilitation & Episodic Supportive Transition (REST) Program is already demonstrating its success in supporting clients through challenging times in their lives. Our Volunteer Program supports all programs and services, involving volunteers in everything from administration to direct client services.
Bruce House was created by this community to meet the needs of people impacted by HIV, and we will continue to honour that trust, through good times and bad.
