A Taste For Life 2024

You can bring hope, housing, and support to vulnerable people living with HIV— all you need to do is grab a meal from a participating restaurant on Wednesday April 17th and you will be making a difference in someone’s life!  Up to 25% of each meal (including alcohol) will be donated by the restaurant!

Please consider making a donation if you are able.

We want to sincerely thank our restaurant partners.  Please support community-minded businesses and let them know that their support is important and recognized!

We cannot stress enough our gratitude to title sponsor TD in maintaining their commitment to supporting people living with HIV in Ottawa, and to Flora Hall and ViiV Healthcare for supporting this event. Thanks to our sponsors all event costs are covered—every dollar donated will go directly to programs and services.

Thank you for your support.

Why Taste is so important

Did you know that sustained government funding only meets about half of Bruce House’s budget? That means we head into every year needing to apply for one-time grants, hold fundraising events, and ask for donations in order to support our clients.

Events like A Taste for Life, along with the National Capital Pride Run and Drag & Balls, are extremely important as the needs of our clients continue to grow.

It is thanks to your support that we have been able to continue to meet the needs of vulnerable people living with HIV during these times of high inflation and growing demands on our resources.

Where the money goes

A Taste for Life is instrumental in supporting people living with HIV in Ottawa. Bruce House uses these funds in our food, housing, and health-and-wellness programs.

Your Taste donation helps us purchase gift cards, household essentials such as toilet paper and other items distributed through our Pantry Program in addition to the food provided by The Ottawa Food Bank.

Our Health and Wellness fund addresses special one-time needs our clients face: purchasing small appliances, transportation expense, medical or dental costs not covered by ODSP, veterinary costs, bike parts and repairs, accessibility devices, and more. Bruce House allocates $20,000 or more every year to this fund, thanks to our community support.
