Another Round of Hygiene Kits!

Thanks to the United Way East Ontario – Local Love in a Global Crisis fund  Bruce House clients will once again receive personal hygiene and cleaning kits!

With skyrocketing grocery prices, discounts brands often out of stock, and ODSP (Ontario Disability Support Program) rates frozen despite a 30-year high inflation, it is getting increasingly difficult for our clients to afford every day essentials.   These kits, along with food from our Pantry Program, help clients bridge the ever-widening gap between essential needs and what they can afford.

Each kit contains over $100 of supplies, but cost Bruce House less than $60 each thanks to frugal shopping and bulk purchase savings. Ironically these are the very sorts of savings denied people receiving ODSP, as they often lack the funds to buy in bulk and save.  Poverty is expensive!

Kits include:

  • 4 soap bars
  • 6 razors
  • 1 deodorant
  • 1 dishwashing liquid
  • 1 mouth wash
  • 1 hand lotion
  • 1 box of masks
  • 1 disinfectant wipes
  • 1 all-purpose spray
  • 1 laundry liquid
  • 1 toothpaste
