The State of Our Sector

Bruce House does not exist in isolation, we are one of many AIDS service organizations (ASOs) and other groups working to respond to HIV and the impact it has on individuals and on our communities.  Here are some updates on our sector.

PositiveLite.com talks to CATIE’s Laurie Edmiston about U=U (Undetectable = Untransmittable); federal funding cuts;  and the lack of a National AIDS Strategy – read it here.

The Canadian AIDS Society (CAS) discusses the impact of changed funding priorities at the Public Health Agency of Canada (PHAC), and how these impact AIDS service organization – here and here.

NOTE:  Bruce House has long received funding from PHAC, through its Community Action Fund.  This funding supports our volunteer program, with over 8,000 hours of volunteer time contributed annually to directly  support programs and services.  Bruce House has been informed that we will no longer receive this funding after March 2018.
